Friday, October 23rd 2020 was a red letter day in Mary Queen of Ireland School in Caherdavin as the pupils and staff marked the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the Salesian Sisters to Limerick.

Leading up to this day the pupils had been learning the story of this historic day as part of their local history lessons. They had watched some powerpoint presentations of what Limerick was like in 1920 and had listened to the podcast by Salesian past pupil Dr. Sinéad McCoole on the’ History Show’. So, when the day arrived they were well equipped to use their poetic, storytelling and artistic talents to depict this momentous occasion.

We thank the Sisters for their marvelous contribution to educating the girls in our school over the past 50 years and for how they have enriched the lives of all those who have passed through the doors of Mary Queen. For their continued kindness support and encouragement - Indeed we have much to celebrate and be grateful for.

As the Sisters prepare to depart Fernbank House we wish them every blessing and happiness in the next chapter……

Buíochas ó chroí libh uilig agus gura fad buan sibh go léir!
