Bracken

The sisters living in Bracken Crescent feel themselves inserted into the area as we are surrounded by families whose children attended or still attend our schools. The sound of children playing outside always keeps us in touch with our charism.

The young children of the Primary School are welcome to be part of the "Sunflower Prayer Group". We meet here in our chapel once a month for prayer. During the Advent season the children are prepared to participate in the Christmas Liturgy. They take responsibility for the readings, the Gospel which they act out, the Prayers of the Faithful and Communion Reflection. This is usually a very crowed Mass and the children make it extra special.

During the Lenten Season, we make the children aware of the needs of the Mission countries. They enact the stories they hear so that they have some small idea of children’s situations in other lands.

Some of our neighbours and others from nearby, known now as "Our Prayer Friends" join us during Advent and Lent for prayer and reflection on the Sunday Liturgy. This is followed by a cuppa and a chat. They also come for the Eucharistic Celebration on our Salesian feasts. We feel very privileged to have them with us.

Some of us have retired from teaching but are still very involved in school and also involved in preparing the Family Mass once a month in the Parish. One sister is still teaching, is involved in after school club and Prayer Group. Another sister offers her gift of Chiropody here and also two days in Ballananty Resource.
