Ehtos Gathering 26th January 2010

On the 26th January the staffs and ancillary staff of the Primary and Infant Schools, Fernbank and the Caherdavin Girls school were invited to an Ethos Gathering in the Strand Hotel. This was organised by the Trustees of the schools.

The Guest speaker Fr. John Horan gave an inspiring Power Point Presentation on Ethos and in particular what this means for us as Salesian educators. We were reminded that, what children will remember most is how they were respected, cherished and cared for. We as Salesian educators must always look out for the child who is struggling and in need of encouragement. They in particular need to know that they are loved. The talk was followed by refreshment and lively exchange between staff members. Everyone agreed that it was a worthwhile gathering.

All we had to do now was to go back into the schools and live it because Ethos is what happens on the ground.
